URGENT: Full time DBA role working 50/50 from home and Brisbane CBD office, with opportunities to expand your skills in new directions.
We are urgently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our client’s team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong history administering SAP SQL Anywhere, live in or near Brisbane, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The initial contract will be from July 2025 to June 2027, most likely followed by an extension of 24 months.

Responsibilities:
- Database capacity planning, installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery
- Programming tasks in the UNIX and/or Windows environments using UNIX and/or Windows-based scripting languages
- Work closely with application developers to provide well considered technical advice and support on issues pertaining to the database environment
- Design, document and implement database administration policies and procedures in accordance with client requirements
Professional requirements:
- 5+ years of full time equivalent, hands-on, demonstratable experience as a database administrator, using SAP SQL Anywhere (highly desirable) and/or SQL Server and/or Oracle
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Practical requirements:
- You must have full, permanent working rights in Australia
- You must live near Brisbane, Australia, and be willing to commute to our client’s Brisbane CBD office 2-3 days per week
- You must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills
It will be an advantage to have:
- A degree in Information Technology or a related discipline

Our client uses SAP SQL Anywhere with some applications, all of which are being redeveloped using Microsoft technologies. The new applications will use SQL Server. While SQL Anywhere is being phased out, your experience with SQL Anywhere is important in the short to medium term.
